How to maintain your Kingston furniture?
The Kingston Range has a natural Tung Oil finish. It does not have a lacquered finish.
Care:
-
Solid wood furniture is always unique.
-
Each piece is unique in structure and color of the tree.
-
Incorporated branches and different structures with small cracks are evidence of
the natural product that does not disturb the connoisseur.
Solid wood is a living product. It grows and shrinks depending on the humidity and room
temperature. Therefore, minimal dimensional variations are a normal reaction. The idea
temperature is approx. 20 degrees Celsius and a humidity level between 50% and 60%.
Since the wood can absorb and release moisture, solid wood furniture helps to regulate the
room climate.
-
Take care not to place the furniture next to radiators or anywhere subject to excessive
changes in temperature or moisture content. We recommend that all kitchenware and
beverages should be placed on mats and any spillages should be wiped away immediately.
Never place hot items such as dishes directly onto the table without using a heat resistant
mat or trivet as direct heat will draw out the moisture in the wood leaving a ring mark
ingrained into the wood.
Cleaning: Always clean the surface with a natural dry cloth before.
1) To maintain and freshen up the furniture’s surface (every 3 to 5 months), we advise use
the tung oil (available from Bunnings) and apply oil thinly and sparingly with the wool cloth.
2) Polish with the dry cotton cloth to remove excess oil. Please do not use microfibre towels,
degreasing household cleaners, or steam cleaners.
